Design Stool Made in France

Laurent Badier reinvents the school stool

Laurent Badier is the owner and creative director of his own design studio in Paris, specializing in contemporary furniture. His furniture collections are unique and can be found in shops all over the world, including the museum stores of MoMA and Fotografiska.

The story of an idea

Laurent Badier began by redesigning the classic school stool of the 1970s in a contemporary version. The stool was followed by a collection of furniture ranging from chairs to benches, all made in vibrant colors and crafted using a combination of Plexiglas and metal. His participation in Paris Design Week enabled him to sign a contract with a museum shop, where some of his creations have been sold ever since. Months later, the head of the MoMA boutique in New York contacted him and was impressed by his designs.
